Pain presses down
Squeezing out tears
Comforts surface
Yet, sadness prevails
Walking through grief
A process, a journey
No timeline given
No end date provided
Simply endured
One day
Then another
And another and another
Nevertheless
Certain hope exists
Grief will one day
Bid a final adieu
Psalm 119:28
"My soul weeps because of grief;
Strengthen me according to Your word."
Lamentations 3:32-33
"For if He causes grief,
Then He will have compassion
According to His abundant lovingkindness.
For He does not afflict willingly
Or grieve the sons of men."
Revelation 21:1-4
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”"
Keep walking, friend! Here is a song for the journey: Take Another Step by Steven Curtis Chapman.
Your post reminded me of this verse that I have pounded on. Isaiah 53:3 “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” When we’re overwhelmed with Grief, and even despised and rejected, we remember Christ was also and He really meets us in that pain. There’s no suffering that gets wasted, if it brings us closer to Him. I have found that Grief has its own way of coming back again and again, indeed with no end in view. But that’s ok… we really hurt how much we loved. And if love never ends, so does Grief. Hugs! 🤗🤗
