When I see this symbol…
I think of a father torn from his wife and his three young children never knowing if he will see them again.
I think of a young mother hiding for years to protect her life and the life of her children.
I think of one group of people declaring themselves superior to another group of people.
I think of war.
I think of death.
I think of hate.

Update on 6/27/2020: I am so excited! Mississippi has taken steps to remove the Confederate iconography from its flag! (Washington Post article) Praise God!
