Taylor Swift and Jesus

A few weeks ago, someone visiting our home mentioned Taylor Swift. One of our kids responded, “Who?”

Recently my husband was in a conversation in Atlanta with a couple parents. Taylor Swift once again came up. Goodness, she is popular! When the parent speaking of this music icon found out my child had not known who Taylor Swift was, she was shocked and stated our kids were in such a bubble. I agree. My kids are in a bubble.

Earlier in this same short conversation, it was my husband’s turn to be silently shocked when the third parent mentioned she had asked her five year old out of curiosity that morning if she knew who Jesus was. She didn’t. She’s never been to church either the parent added.

This post is not to bash Taylor Swift or people who listen to her. This post is not saying people who love Jesus shouldn’t listen to Taylor Swift. This post is a reminder that we are all creating bubbles for our kids to live in. We choose so much of what they are exposed to and not exposed to. We encourage a direction for them to follow. We shape a mindset.
